Mercator Telescope: P7-2000 Atmospheric Extinction (V)
Tonight's atmospheric extinction coefficients in V at the Roque de
los Muchachos Observatory. These data are offered by the Mercator
Telescope, operated by the "Instituut voor Sterrenkunde" of the
Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium).
The calculations of the
extinction coefficients is part of the data reductions made by the
photometric group of Geneva Observatory in Switzerland
(Gilbert.Burki@obs.unige.ch), which developed the instrument P7-2000
installed on Mercator. These photometric data are made in the Geneva
7-colour system. Hit 'Reload' or 'Shift Reload' to update the
information. Data are only available when the photometer is working
and the sky presents photometric conditions. The column 'Date' is the
date on which the night started.
Important remark: The values for K(V) are only indicative for the atmospheric conditions and are supplied on the Web to help other observers at the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory. The coefficients are obtained on-line and are not the result of the full photometric reduction process (zero-point determination, colour correction etc.). They are therefore not intended to be used in photometric reductions. The atmospheric extinction coefficients in the 7 colours of the Geneva system will be available as soon as possible on the web after validation.
